For Lack Of A Better War 2001

The truth is the truth, no matter what your creed.
But some take too literal, the words that they read.
It’s easy to blame a sect for the deeds of a few,
And it’s easier to turn your back on what you know is true.

They can say that we don’t care
    that were not even trying
But we’d never knew a war
and our friends were not dying.
When there’s no one to belive in,
    it’s easy to forsake,
But we’ve seen the past on TV
    and learned from their mistakes

They can build better bombs, and better artillery
We only like to kill people we can’t see.
Until they lead us off again and we’ll have to fight some more
I’m thankful for the lack of a better war.

They can say that we don’t care
    that were not even trying
But we’d never knew a war
and our friends were not dying.
When there’s no one to belive in,
    it’s easy to forsake,
But we’ve seen the past on TV
    and learned from their mistakes.

We put our trust in our leaders
through we know that they were lying
Cause we’d never knew a war
and our friends were not dying.
The reforms and the changes
    may finally come along,
Maybe someone listened
    when you sang your songs.

We’re still homeless, but now we’re building
We’re still infected, but now we’re visiting
We’re still bleeding, but now we’re giving
We’re still afraid, but now we’re reaching

We want to believe so badly that it makes our souls ache.
But we’ve seen it all on TV and learned from their mistakes.
